Classic October post... and other ramblings

I can't believe October is just about over! What the heck!?! That means I only have November, December and a bit of January before I have 2 kids. And I am betting that November will be my only productive month before I become a beached whale and don't want to do anything. That seems crazy to me. Oh so much to do and right now I don't want to do a thing.

Jeremiah's Grandma Joncas flew in from Missouri for a surprise visit. Hopefully Bode hasn't worn her out to much with his rambunctious ways. He has been thoroughly spoiled, but I know he likes it. We have sure enjoyed her stay with us. It has been more than 2 years since we have seen her, Bode was only 3 or 4 months old.

On Monday night we carved pumpkins. I thought Bode might like cleaning them out but he was not a fan, so Jer and I did the yucky job.

This is about as close as Bode got to the pumpkins when we cleaned them out. Jer threw a bit of the stuff out of the pumpkins at him and Bode got a rag to wash his foot off. He really didn't like it. (PS he is experimenting with underwear this evening)

I wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty.

Jer pointed out that my belly is as big as my pumpkin.
We got fancy this year and printed out patterns to carve our pumpkins. You had to pin them on and then trace them by poking hole around the silhouette. Bode felt like this was something that he wanted to do. He loved poking the pins into the pumpkin. He got very serious about it, even sticking his tongue out, he get that from me.

So yesterday I felt it was getting to close to Halloween and Bode needed a costume. I really have never liked store bought costumes, I prefer homemade ones. But man I for the life of me could not figure out what to make Bode. Any idea I had was shot down by Jeremiah. My sister in law found red leggings at her Wal-Mart, but I forgot to pick them up from her house when I was on the east side of town, so I couldn't make the "Dash" costume I had settled on. Jer suggested that we go buy one. This tiger outfit was what we came back with. He was not a fan of putting it on when we got home, but later in the evening he decided to show it off. Hopefully he will want to wear it on Halloween. If not we will just put a sign on him saying he is boycotting his costume and just wants candy.

Here is our finished pumpkin carving product. Jeremiah's turned out great. It is the tombstone/skeleton one on the left. And mine, after help from Jer and some tooth picks looks good too. If you can't tell what it is, it is ghosts in a window. To bad my camera made the pictures so fuzzy.

Bode is thinking about the potty more and more everyday. He wants to wear underwear, sit on the potty, and wipe, but nothing comes out. I am going to start really trying next Monday, anyone have any tricks or ideas to help us out? I figure that while he shows some interest I need to act on it. Other wise I may not get to it for a while and he is getting to bit for me to change his diaper. He sure does like to wear underwear though. He likes to show me his buns.

I guess he figures if the fridge is locked there must be something in the freezer worth scaling the fridge for. Bode must have grown a bit in the last few weeks. He can now open the tv cupboard and the freezer.
Here is Bode's latest trick. He finds "key" (coins) from around the house and figured out how to unlock the doors.

Just so you know...

I am now in the double digits on my pregnancy countdown. 99 days! Wow... it seems like it is going too fast!

Jer and I can not figure out a name. For last two nights we have even looked a baby name books to get some inspiration. And nothing. This could get interesting.

Sometimes I hate to be the mommy...

Last night for the first time Bode drew on the walls in crayon. Right before bed he was playing in his room and I went to check on him. To my shock he had drawn all over his wall. He saw me me an yelled "ma ma" so, so excited! And in my disapproving "mom voice" I stared to scold him. The little twinkle in his eyes disappeared, the lip came out and he handed me the crayons. I could have cried it made me feel so bad to ruin all the fun. Jer came in behind me and very calmly explained to Bode that we don't color on the walls. Then we all three got out the Mr. Clean magic (and oh they are so magic!) eraser and cleaned off the walls together. I should have taken a picture, but Jer did not want to condone the behavior. It was such a cute drawing. I think I need to start framing some of his 2 1/2 year old art work because it is priceless! Plus I think we decided that we are getting him an art easel for Christmas.

Costume madness...

Halloween is coming up fast. I was never really into the holiday, but now that I have a kid it seems more fun. But I can not figure out what his costume should be. I don't want to buy one. It is so much more fun to make them. I was thinking "Dash" for the Incredibles, but Bode is not a fan of the movie and I can't find red leggings to make one. So does anyone have any ideas?

What should Bode be for Halloween?

Feeling oh so crafty...

I don't know what it is about fall, but it always makes me feels crafty. For the past few weeks I have been doing little projects around the house to decorate for fall. I love doing things with my hands. Here are a few of my little creations so far. Cute pumpkins to place on top of my entertainment center.
I had left over scraps from the big pumpkins to make little pumpkins.
I am not much of a glittery person. But these are fun.
Sneak peek on a Halloween stitchery project. This is going to be so cute! Plus next week I am going to my sisters house to meet up with her and my mom to make signs and hopefully do one for ourselves.
Oh yes, 25 weeks and 104 days to go. I had a doctors appointment this morning. Everything is going great. I was shocked to see that my scale and the doctors scale agreed that I have gained 9 pounds. That is great for me. I know the second that I write that down I will start gaining a pound a day. You will all know when my weight goes out of control becasue I will stop posting how much I have gained and lock myself in my bedroom to cry. Next time I have the yucky glucose test, but that will be offset by getting a 3-D ultrasounds.
* Just a side story. Jeremiah always teases me about my blogging. Things like I am always on the computer, blogging, all the time. Which I do agree I do spend a good amount of time on the computer, but I like it. It is a way to stay connected to the outside world on a daily basis. Other wise I would just be stuck at home, with no human interaction, changing dirty diapers scrubbing the tub. So the other night we were laying in bed talking and reminiscing about Bode when he was a little baby. We were exchange stories that we remembered and Jer says something to the effect of "we really should have been better at keeping a journal and writing all these things down" I laughed and said I have them all written out with pictures... it is call our blog! I have always been bad at keeping a journal, but I love to blog and write down all the wonderful and cruddy things that go on in our house. I have been wanting to put together our blog book for awhile and now that Jer has given me permission so do it becasue it is our family journal.
PS horray it is Thursday... The Office is on tonight!

Never to early...

The Holidays season is just around the corner... have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Let me give you a great idea for a beautiful Christmas gift for family and friends -Vinyl Signs!

I am now taking orders for the holiday season. Please check out the link on my side bar to give you a few ideas on what beautiful things can be done with vinyl. It is my sister's web page. She is a vinyl wizard and has some incredible ideas. She has a small (sometimes big) vinyl business. She just recently had her 3rd baby and has closed down shop. But with some convincing, we have decided to take some Christmas orders.

Vinyl signs are a beautiful addition to any home. Please let me know if you or someone you know would be interested in something for the holidays.

*All orders must be placed by October 22nd. If it goes well I might do another order in November, but that is not for sure.

Just Bode and Abbey

Bode and Abbey got a special treat. After conference weekend they both go to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for a few extra days. I think they had a bunch of fun together.

My mom has raspberry bushes in her back yard. They both had a fun time completely emptying them of all their berries.
He is working hard to get them off.
And of course a chance to feed the ducks. Abbey has quite the arm. She could chuck the bread way out in the water.

Jeremiah put bread on Bode's knee and this duck actually swiped it off!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for letting them stay.

24 weeks and growing...

Here is my pregnant belly at 6 months. I choose not to show my face, no make-up, yucky hair, not a pretty picture. She is starting to move a lot more these days. That is always nice. So far I have been feeling really good. Knock on wood. Bode is cute, when I ask where the baby is he will rub my belly. Only 112 more days...

Handmade Pumpkins

Ok I feel kinda dumb for posting this. But I will anyways. I made these pumpkins for fall decorations. They actually turned out quite good. Each one has special embellishments and cute accents to made each one unique and different. I loved making them. I also am looking to make a little money for the upcoming holiday season. So if anyone would be interested in a set let me know.

Pumpkins...

Every year my Mom has a garden. In the corners of the yard she grows pumpkins. Some years there aren't many and others there are a tons. This year was a good pumpkin year. We are up in Pinetop for the weekend to see enjoy the beautiful, but rainy weather. Bode got to go through the pumpkin patch and pick out a few to take home.
