Parental woes...

I go upstairs, they go downstairs.
I go downstairs, they go upstairs.
I go to the bathroom,
they call for me a knock on the door nonstop.

I spend an hour cleaning, dusting, vacuuming a room.
I walk out of the room come back 5 minutes later
and you would have never known I was even in there.
The room is trashed.

We spend lots of money on toys at Christmas, birthday's and special treats
but the most fun "toys" in the house are the cushions on the couch and the blankets from the beds.

So I have found my newest pets peeve. I absolutely hate it when my children take the cushions off of the couch. Yes, I know it must be fun to make forts and jump off the couch on to the pile of cushions, but it is ruining my couch. The back cushions are starting to be ripped off of the back and need to be repaired. I get to annoyed at telling Bode 10 times a day not to take them off, then to find that he did it anyways. Which brings me to my next thought... What am I going to do with this kid?

He is turning 5 next month. He is such a sweet kid. He is very thoughtful and aware of other people's feelings. He is a good big brother and when he wants to can be very helpful. But man he has been going through such a hard phase for me.  He is getting older and needs to be entertained and challenged more. Bode is so social and loves to be around people. I think part of the reason he and I are butting heads so much is because he is do ready to go so school. He is ready to learn and be with people. I have been doing more activities with him and it helps. We have been coloring, painting, doing puzzles, playing outside and countless other things. But it just doesn't seem to be enough. He throws fits over the smallest things. Like needing to put his shoes away, brushing his teeth, turning off the tv, not getting into the fridge. Me asking him to do anything turns into a melt down for him. Full on crying fits. It is so frustrating, for both of us. I am trying to teach him there are consequences for his actions. If you don't eat dinner you don't get desert, don't pick up your toys you don't get to play with them. Maybe I am just being to negative? I am just so stuck in the middle of our little situation that I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

MOM.... Bewlll!!!

Those are the two words I heard all day long.
Laine has recently become a Tinker Bell lover.
I recorded 2 Tinker Bell movies from Disney channel a few weeks ago
and now all she wants is "Bewll".

Right when she wakes up
Bewll.
After she eats
Bewll.
Right went we walk through the door
Bewll.
I got her a sippy one night at 3 in the morning, she rolled over and said,
"Want Bewll Mama".

So when she does get to watch Bell she finds her Tinker Bell seat, grabs a snack and watches her favorite little fairy.

Loved this series...

10 Decorating Mistakes to Avoid from Your Decorating Hotline

I could also rename this series My 10 Pet Peeves of Decorating.

For as long as I can remember I have walked into houses and redecorated rooms in my head. I am not saying what I would do or how I decorate is always good or done the right way. It is just a habit and a hobby that I like to do.  I would love to go to school for design but you just can't make money doing it. These 10 guide lines are great and will help you achieve the look that you are going for in your house.

I am dying to....

make over my kids' rooms!

A few weeks ago I did a little swap and got a new bed frame for Bode. It is much more manly compared to the white sleigh bed he is currently sleeping in.  It is very plain but has wooden spindles all across the headboard and footboard. It is the typical honey colored oak wood. I am really wanting to get started on painting it and getting bedding ready to redo Bode's room. After painting the bed, black I think, I am going to get some bedding.  I am thinking a plain quilt and  fun throw and pillows. Kind of like this...

I found these quilts from Target for both of their rooms. Then I can't wait to go to Joann's to pick out material.

I am still going to go with the same cars and truck theme for his room to match his wall decor. Plus I want to make some more shelves, a new lamp and nightstand. Of course you all know when I say "new" I mean Goodwill finds, yards sales, basically anything as cheap as possible.

So here is Bode's before...

For Laine's room I am not quite so sure. I have been gathering inspiration from places all over trying to figure out what I want to do in there. I like the blues, greens and pinks. Basically the whole Pottery Barn Kids collection for girls.

Laine's before.

I just wish my pockets were are big as my plans. I know it will take a few months to do both rooms. I hope I can do them before the end of the year.

Have you met this girl...

She is a hoot!
But not when she is sick.

The poor little girl has been battling a fever, runny nose and a respiratory infection for the last 4 days. Hopefully she will be feeling better soon. For now the only things that make her feel better are her blanky, sippy and a Tinker Bell movie. Oh, and her daddy. She loves him so much. She wants to be held, not by me, just daddy.
