Our mini vacation...

Jer came home from work a few weeks ago and told me we were getting boring. He decided that we needed to go on vacation. We have never gone on a vacation by ourselves. We have gone with friends and family but never just our little family. We had a little money and decided to be impulsive for once in our lives and go to San Diego. I loved it! I remember vacations as a child and having fun with my family. But there is something different about taking your own children. It was so fulfilling to see Bode have so much fun and we felt very blessed that we were able to take our kids on this trip. It also made me very grateful for my parents taking us on vacations as kids. Thanks Dad and Mom!!

The trip over was good. Jer, of course, got home super late from work so we ended up not leaving as early as we had planned. But it was only a five hour drive. We made good time even with all the potty, lunch and nursing stops. Both kids did really good. Bode only watched one movie the whole time. The interstate into San Diego follows the Union Pacific Railroad. Bode loves trains and was so excited to see them all day long.

Paradise Point...

We had a fun time at our hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. It was a nice hotel with a really family friendly set up. There were kiddie pools, fish ponds (with HUGE fish), paths for walks and the best part was that it was with in walking distance to the little beach/cove. I loved out room. It had a nice beach cottage feel to it. Jer booked it and I know the name sounded familiar. So I googled it. If you are a fan of "John and Kate Plus Eight" it was the resort they stayed at in San Diego. That made me laugh. If you do go don't order room service though. It wasn't that good. One other down side was that you had to pay $22 dollars a night to park! Other than that we hope to go back there next year.

We had fun in our hotel room.

This was a big tower in the middle of the hotel grounds. At the top you could look out and see the whole place. It was really pretty.

Jer and I liked these plants. They looked like little bird.

Top of the tower.

Our cute room. We let Bode jump all over the beds. He had a blast!

Outside our room.

Laine was a pro on her first big trip. She slept good and was happy to be dragged all over.

Looking at the big creepy fish.

This was just a baby one. I decided I not a fan of big fish. I wouldn't want to be swimming and see one of these guys next to me.

The Beach...

We actually didn't make it to the real beach but just the cove that surrounded our hotel. Either way Bode had a ton of fun.

Chasing seagulls

Bode had a bucket and had fun picking up sea shells.

San Diego Zoo...

The highlight of out trip was the trip to the zoo. The San Diego Zoo in huge. We got there pretty close to when it opened and stayed there for 6 hours. The hole time I think Bode sat down in the stroller 2 times. He had so much fun running back and forth along all the trails looking at all the different animals. It wasn't crowded so it was fun to just let him set the pace for the day.

The gorilla exhibit was by far my favorite one. We walked by earlier in the morning and they weren't out yet. I was disappointed. So after we had seen everything else I talked Jer into walking by the Gorilla's den one more time. I am so glad we did. They are huge and so beautiful. There are a few young one only a few years old and all the adult ones too.

Notice Bode's little souvenir in the crook of the little gorilla's arm.

Definitely take the sky ride across the park. Bode loved it.

We were waiting in line for the sky tram and Bode decided he was to tired to stand. So he sat down on Jer's foot. Every time we moved up in the line Bode got up and then sat right back down on his foot.

Two cute kids. The people standing around us got a kick out of Laine and Bode with their heads in the cut out.

The Kid's Petting Zoo

Laine did so good. She just hung out in the stroller and kicked her feet around and slept for most of the day.

Bode had so much fun walking around.

We had planned on letting Bode get a souvenir. We went into the gift shop and found a bunch of stuffed animals. He immediately found this little cat. We tried to show him all the other ones that he could get but he didn't care. He has played with his cat every day since then.

What a fun day for our little family!!

San Diego Temple...

This temple is so beautiful. Jer and I decided to go see the temple while we were on vacation. He kept telling me I needed to see it at night because it would take my breath away. It is amazing. I had seen pictures of it and always imagined it like the other temple's I have seen. Kinda far away from everything and a lot of ground to walk. But that is not the case. It is just nestled there in between a large building and a bunch of apartment buildings. It had been a chaotic day and it was so peaceful to walk through the temple gates and feel the peace that is offed there.

This picture was taken in a shopping center parking lot across the street. The temlpe is so close the the free way.

She just keeps rolling and rolling...

This is today's video. She didn't cooperate all that well. Bode thinks it is cool she can roll. Every time he sees her do it he tells me "she over mom". I am going to have to keep my eye on her now.

What the heck....

My little baby is rolling over!?! Friday we left the room and when we came back she was on her belly. Every since then she has been rolling and rolling. This is he on Sunday. She could only roll one way and not lift her head very high. She would roll on her belly and then get all made and cry becasue she couldn't do anything else. But today she can roll from belly to back and then back to her back. That was a weird sentence. She is three months old, is that too soon? Jer took this video. It is a funny one. Sorry about the upside down picture.

Take a hike...

My sweet husband arranged a fun day for us. He called Rena to babysit our kids. Then he took me up on a little hike through the desert. Then back into town for yummy Subway. Thank you for the fun day Jeremiah. I love spending time with you!!

He's going to kill me for this one someday...

This is how Bode pee-pee's on the potty.

The case of the missing camera...

While I was at Jill's house a little kid swiped my camera.
These are a few of the little gems that the camera bandit took.

And the bandit was...
