5 year old girl...

5. She is 5 years old. She has been so excited to turn 5. I think she feels like 5 is an important number, lots of things happen when you are 5. Highest on her list is going to kindergarten. All day she kept calling herself "the birthday girl". She would ask Piper if she would like to hug the birthday girl or yes the birthday girl would like a drink. We were driving down the road and she said to me "All those people out there don't know that its my birthday".

Laine love to ride bikes. She had been using Bode's old hand me down one for awhile. We decided to get her a big girl bike for her birthday.

We had some gift cards to Cheesecake Factory and decided to take her out as family for her birthday.

She felt so special. Love this 5 year old girl.

The best solution...

Many days the best solution to a long Sunday afternoon is to take a drive to see dad. Jer works hard at his job and is good at it. We are proud of him.

The kids love to see daddy in action. They always ask to sit in his car and play with the lights.

Happy new year...

We celebrated the new year by setting off a few fireworks and going to bed. Not big party animals here. I did wake up Bode to watch the ball drop at midnight though. I had put them all to bed but then felt a little guilty that I made Bode go to bed. So I set my alarm and got him up. I thought he'd be really happy we did that. We watched it drop then he asked to go back to bed. Oh well, maybe he will remember getting up with me fondly one day. Piper was scared of the fireworks and clung to daddy the whole time.

We have seen frozen no less than 100 times. The kids can sing all the songs. Our new favorite movie.

The glow...

Electronics can make things really easy if I let them. My kids enjoy playing outside. Making messes with all the toys. They like to make forts and do crafts. But at the same time they would sit for hours watching shows or playing games. We are really taking a step back from screen time. I think it has a place but that place is not first place.
